Appointments
Our office has implemented an appointment system that we feel accommodates school and work schedules for our patients and parents. Appointments for orthodontic visits are considered medically excused absences in the schools. Although many of our appointments may be scheduled in the morning or late in the afternoon, there will need to be some appointments scheduled between the hours of 9am and 3pm.
Short appointments are appointments approximately 20 minutes long. These appointments are scheduled before and after school hours in order to see as many patients as possible during this time.
Long appointments are 40 minutes or longer and will be scheduled during the hours of 9am and 3pm. We will do our best to accommodate each family with appointments that do not conflict with work or school; however some appointments will need to be during the middle of the day.
Please note that missing appointments will prolong your treatment and may result in additional fees.
Dental Checkups and Cleanings
We require that the patient’s teeth be cleaned and all cavities filled before orthodontic treatment begins. We recommend that the patient continue to see the family dentist every six months for a cleaning and cavity check during the entire orthodontic treatment.
Regular professional dental cleanings with your dentist will maintain overall oral health and prevent dental disease. Certain problems—such as cavities or bone loss—can only be evaluated by special x-rays taken at the dentist’s office. Please know that damage can occur to the teeth, bone and gum tissue if regular dental visits are not kept. It will sometimes be necessary for us to remove the orthodontic wires prior to cleanings, and replace then after the dental appointment. We will be happy to help you coordinate these appointments with your family dentist.
Fees
Fees are based on the complexity of treatment and the time necessary to complete it. Since every individual is different, there is no one fee for orthodontic care. Normally, a down payment is made and monthly installments are paid over the treatment period. We also have several other payment plans and are willing to work with you to make arrangements that suit your financial situation.
Insurance
If you are eligible for orthodontic insurance benefits, our office will electronically file the fee for treatment. If a change in treatment is necessary, which alters the fee or treatment time, we will resubmit the corrected information. If assignment is accepted in our office, it is with the understanding that the full fee for treatment is ultimately the responsibility of the patient, custodial parent or guardian.
